The Aesculapius Research Group Aesculapius software is a highly secure internet-accessible patient database for patients treated in multiple clinics, emergency rooms, and operating rooms. Physicians, nurses, and health care personnel can access the system from multiple departments and institutions. Using PC's with validated compliant operating systems, internet browsers with 128-bit encryption secure socket layer, VeriSign security, and valid digital authentication, physicians, nurses, and health care personnel can add and edit individual patient data. Only authorized physicians can access group or department patient data.
Diagnoses, procedures, AMA CPT procedure codes (with a CPT search engine), implants, and procedure categories can be entered. A flexible and powerful report writer uses filters using Boolean logic operators to search by and write reports of patients with multiple diagnoses and procedures, surgeon, hospital, and date of visit or surgery across multiple hospitals and clinics, covering patient data over many years of patient visits and procedures.
Academic institutions and departments can produce reports stripped of patient identifier data, exported to Excel format, for statistical compliance with the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Residency Review Committee (RRC), specialty societies, board certification, hospital accreditation, and outcomes studies. The database and its security features are compliant with HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
